A film about a man whose days are all seemingly the same as he goes about his job cleaning toilets in Tokyo sounds as if it would be boring at best, but in the hands of Wim Wenders and his star, Kōji Yakusho, it becomes a beautiful, gently uplifting Zen meditation on fulfilment, meaning and simple joys.
