Coming in 2024 – The Boy and the Heron, Ilo Ilo, Young Plato

In 2024, the Illawarra Film Society is screening over 30 feature films, and this is your second sneak peek of what's coming!

The Boy and the Heron

Mahito, a young 12-year-old boy, struggles to settle in a new town after his mother's death. However, when a talking heron informs Mahito that his mother is still alive, he enters an abandoned tower in search of her, which takes him to another world.

Pregnant Hwee Leng Lim and her husband Teck hire a Filipino live-in maid for household chores and to help with their son Jiale, whose behaviour has deteriorated since the recent death of his grandfather.

Awarded the Camera d'Or award, recognising the best debut feature film at Cannes Film Festival.

School headmaster Kevin McArevey tries to change the fortunes of an inner-city Belfast community plagued by urban decay, sectarian aggression, poverty and drugs.
